Digital Inclusion Partners

  1. Houston Area Urban League (H.A.U.L.). The mission of the Houston Area Urban League is to enable African Americans and other minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. Urban  League professionals will work with the parents of Read By Six students to ensure that there will be a home environment that reinforces those academic and socials skills being taught in school.

  2. Houston Social Venture Partners (HSVP). An organization of successful professionals who want to give back to the Houston community in a way that makes use, not just of their money, but of their professional expertise as well.  HSVP members invest their collective time, talent and money in high-impact social sector agencies addressing the root causes of community problems to help them accomplish their missions.  HSVP provided the grant to establish the “Read By Six Initiative” within North Forest daycares and private schools.  HSVP members are also providing their personal expertise to BDD.

  3. The Houston Read Commission (HRC) is a nonprofit urban literacy coalition that makes free literacy services available and accessible to adults and families. Established in 1988 by the Mayor and City Council of Houston, the Commission is now one of the largest urban literacy coalitions of its kind in the United States with 180 members. The Houston READ Commission's goal is to combat illiteracy and promote economic self-sufficiency by offering programs in adult basic education, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, family literacy, life skills, pre-employment and workplace skills, workforce development and financial and computer literacy.  HRC provides the following to the “Read By Six  Initiative”: 1. Certificates for children and  “Exemplary Sites”,  2. Volunteers to test children at qualified childcare facilities.  3. A program Coordinator to review progress reports.  Website:

  4. Bytes of Learning: develops and publishes powerful learning tools for use on Windows, Macintosh and Dana computers in schools, homes, offices and training environments.   5. Surplus Buyers is a Donor Organization: Surplus Buyers is a for-profit hardware disposal and recycling company who is dedicated to giving back to the community.  Surplus  Buyers donates hardware (keyboards, mice, power cords & etc.) to “The Read by Six Initiative”.  Surplus Buyers is a hardware disposal and recycling company that offers a full turn-key recycling service. They pick up surplus computers and electronics from any site in the nation and transfers the hardware to its EPA permitted facility in Houston Texas for disposal. Surplus Buyers eliminates the burden and potential liability of excess electronic inventory.

  6. A Rocket Moving & Storage is a Donor Organization: A-Rocket is a for-profit moving and storage company that is dedicated to giving back to the community.  A-Rocket donates storage space for the equipment  and picks up donated equipment”.  A-Rocket Moving & Storage specializes in local, long distance, commercial, residential, international moving, storage and car transport. A–Rocket understands that a well coordinated operation is essential for a successful relocation. A-Rocket and its owner/director DeAndre Sam, has received many community-based awards.

ROWDY Inc: is a foundation that establishes mentoring programs that seek to nurture the mental, physical, cultural, emotional, and psychological needs of adolescents and young adults.  The young people are surrounded by positive roles models who refuse to accept or reward mediocrity. The program is designed to help youth reach their full potential.   The goal of the ROWDY Foundation is to place the computers in their programs throughout the US and Spain.

National Cristina Foundation (NCF): provides computer technology and solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk and economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity, through training, to lead more independent and productive lives.  National Cristina Foundation donates hardware (computers, keyboards, mice, power cords & etc.)
