Dr. Robert L Ford is CEO of DRF Industries LLC, Vice President of Global Business Roundtable Houston, and a Citizens Schools Teacher, having developed an America: A Smart Energy Society Apprenticeship at Patrick Henry Middle School. Dr. Ford is a board member of Bridging the Digital Divide, Inc., and STEM Advisory Board at Attucks Middle School and a recent AdvancED K-12 External Reviewer. Bob is retired Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Center for STEM Education and Outreach (C-SEO) at Texas Southern University, was a member of the Houston-Luanda Sister City Association and a member of the Thompson Elementary School Site Based Decision-Making Committee, as well as TSU Faculty Senator and President of the Earl Carl Institute for Legal and Social Policy. He was TSU GLOBE Partnership Coordinator, represented the College of Science and Technology on the University Research Council, and chaired the College of Science and Technology Fundraising, Events, and Public Relations Committee. He has served as Associate Provost for Research at TSU, Vice President for Advancement and Research at Fort Valley State University, Vice Chancellor for Research at Southern University in Baton Rouge and Interim Chair of the TSU Chemistry Department. He was Research Scientist at Xerox Corporation (Rochester, NY and Palo Alto, CA) and served as Assistant Secretary for Community Services for the Louisiana Department of Urban and Community Affairs. Ford has international business and energy technology experience in South Africa, The Republic of the Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria, Taiwan, Germany, China, Brazil, Belize, and The Netherlands; and he has visited China, Singapore, and Malaysia to study STEM student and professional development. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University at Lafayette, IN, where he was recently recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus by both institutions.
 
nwhiddon Nicholas Whiddon (BDD Board Member): Nicholas is a Branch Manager for Woodforest National Bank. Nicholas is goal driven professional with 8 years’ experience in the Banking industry. Dedicated to the growth of self and others in Companies, Organizations and the Communities in which they serve.

ejernigan Efrem Jernigan (BDD Board Member):
President – South Union Community Development Corporation Organizing / managing a Board of Directors on programming for the betterment of the South Union community while assisting community leaders in creating collaborative efforts with a core programming centered around youth and senior citizens with a vision to build minds and successfully healthy lives through exposure to “seeds of success” through the use of Technology. LyondellBasell Industries – Operations Technician June 1989 – Present (26 years 8 months) Managing the process of converting Polypropylene gas into plastic the many end-users. Industrial Shuttle Services / Shuttles Unlimited, Inc. – Owner / Operator January 1995 – January 2000 (5 years) Provided shuttle service for Oil & Gas employees commuting from the METRO Park & Ride lots to the various business centers. Texas Southern UniversityEngineering Major 1981 – 1983 then studied abroad during United States Air Force service.


Billy C. Rector (BDD Board Member):
Billy C. Rector was the Chief Information Officer for the Office of Information Technology. Rector was appointed in December 2008 to serve as Texas Southern University first named CIO. Prior to joining TSU Rector worked in higher learning for nearly 10 years. With over 25 years of Project Management experience in planning, designing and implementing Enterprise Applications, IT Energy Systems, DATA Warehouse/Business Intelligence systems for major corporations. Rector has been recognized for his ability to develop vision/mission as well as mobilize stakeholders to exceed their objectives. In addition, he very instrumental in bringing BIG FIX, a power management source for campus computers as well as repositioning Teas Southern University through negotiation the return of technology services back to the university after several years of outsourcing. Rector is a native of Texas and holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and is currently working toward a Doctoral degree in Business Information Systems.
